On behalf of the Emirates Society of Clinical Microbiology (ESCM), it is our great pleasure to welcome you to The ESCM-BSAC Antimicrobial Stewardship Symposium, taking place on November 8, 2025 in Pullman Dubai Downtown, UAE.

BSAC is a world leader in antimicrobial stewardship, and their presence will greatly support our efforts to strengthen stewardship programs at both regional and local levels. This gathering also brings together UAE policymakers, healthcare leaders, clinicians, researchers, and industry representatives, united by a shared commitment to advancing the responsible use of antimicrobials and preserving their effectiveness for generations to come.

About

Emirates Society of Clinical Microbiology (ESCM) is part of the Emirates Medical Association (EMA) established in May 2018 to meet the needs of Clinical Microbiologists in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

ESCM aims to encourage communication and promote scientific knowledge, education, research and professional development and, ultimately, improve quality of care for patients suffering from infectious diseases.

ESCM provides a wide variety of services to its members including essential educational resources and links in the ESCM website’s member area. ESCM also offers free or discounted registration and continuing medical education (CME) credits in our scientific events and annual conference. In addition, ESCM provides unique opportunities such as research groups and peer review Services.

We hope that you can realize the tremendous benefits ESCM offers to its members and the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills through education and through meeting other microbiologists from various Emirates in the UAE and other countries.

We invite all clinical microbiologists in the UAE to join and be active members in our society and look forward to seeing you all in our meetings.

Emirates Medical Association (EMA) was established as a non-profit organization in 1981, composed of health practitioners that are members of the EMA as defined by its bylaws. EMA is responsible for supervising and conducting scientific training, events and conferences as well as collaborating with health organizations. EMA launched its work through its competent supervisory, executive and specialist boards and committees. EMA is a scientific organization which has legal personality, and it’s Headquarter in Dubai, with one branch in Abu Dhabi.

EMA aims to improve professional performance, develop and encourage skills, and enrich scientific theory and practice in the different health-fields, by:

  1. Developing the professional health-related programs, and developing sustained medical education programs for health-related disciplines, in line with the general educational framework.
  2. Coordinating with other professional health boards, authorities, associations, inside and outside the UAE.
  3. Encouraging scientific research, publishing scientific papers and issuing its own journal (EMJ).
  4. Participating in recommending general plans to qualify and develop human resources in health fields.
  5. Organizing seminars, campaigns, workshops, and holding conferences to discuss domestic health problems and solutions.
  6. Encouraging health-related scientific research and proposing research topics.
  7. Approving the establishment of scientific societies for health specialties under the umbrella of EMA.
